Winter Home Projects

Home Owners Network

We spend more time indoors in the winter months and it’s the perfect opportunity to complete a home safety check. Three projects that will make homes healthier and happier:

  • Check your alarms: Check all carbon monoxide &
aireFiltersmoke detectors and replace the batteries per the manufacturer’s recommendations. 60% of fire deaths resulted from homes without working smoke alarms. (source: National Fire Protection Agency)
  • Replace your air filters: A clean air filter means your systems will run more efficiently. You will be inside a lot this winter so clean up that interior air to reduce allergies and spend less money on your heating bills.
  • Clean your dryer vents: Your clothes dryer vent is packed full of flammable material. Cleaning the vent annually will improve its performance and reduce fire risk. Find a local handyman who can check all three things off of your list.
